Exhibition Statment
This series explores the forces that shaped the lives of women who broke free from stereotypes and conventions to make major contributions in their time—the women who became icons and models for others to follow. What enabled them to rebel? Drawing on historical events, and the iconic imagery and propaganda that surrounded them, I re-imagine these images and placed them in jarring social, political, and cultural juxtaposition to give us a window into the forces that spurred each woman to rise to legend.
